Chapter History

Chapter History

In 2009, there was a vision to bring a national sorority to McKendree University's campus. A group of women formed an extension committee and worked with the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) to get into contact with national sororities. In 2010, the Extension Committee received word that Sigma Sigma Sigma national sorority was interested in coming to McKendree, and thus, a dream was born.

After working hard to achieve many goals over the year, the colony was installed as the Theta Gamma chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma on April 9, 2011. Tri Sigma is currently the only national sorority at McKendree University.

At McKendree, we participate and compete in Homecoming Week events, go on trips to other Tri Sigma chapters, hold educational workshops for our members, have weekly sisterhood activities, hold socials with other Greek organizations, and commit to philanthropies of children's play therapy and educational scholarships.

Our chapter also has the unique opportunity to attend national leadership and educational programs, such as the Dunham Women of Character Institute (our program for emerging leaders), President's Academy, Service Immersion Trips to Jamaica, and National Convention, which happens every 3 years.
